DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Unsigned Swiss, very unusual double wheel duplex with beating seconds, 54mm, nickel OF case, front and rear latch at top below fixed bow, white enamel SS impressed dial, wound via crank assembly inside rear and set via wheel under dial at 12, double wheel duplex escapement, unusual bi-metallic compensation balance wheel with timing screws arranged to the inner surface of rim, gilt mvt, s#8 marked in two places to visible surface of mvt. A very unusual piece with interesting escapement and beating seconds-register, the movement of this watch is viewed by removal of its dial. We are unaware of the significance of the hour markings inside the case rear and of the minute markings to the portion of mvt surface visible when case rear is opened, it is possible these served some function that is no longer present, and if so some components associated with this function are presumably now absent.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good gilt tone, some fine scratches; dial with hl from 12 to center, light perimeter hls between 11 and 12, hl to left side of seconds-register, minuscule flake at center above seconds-register; nearly mint hands; case shows light wear, some abrasions and profuse fine to micro-fine scratches to rear, two dings to band at 7, few small nicks elsewhere, some areas of finish loss; fixed bow with few small scratches; good glass crystal.
